This narrow, 'L' shaped space was dominated by a large '60s building overlooking it at the rear. The owners had a limited budget and wanted to build the garden themselves. They wanted as many plants as possible and somewhere to sit, eat and entertain. Old bricks had been discovered buried in a rubbish heap at the end of the garden, and these and the existing pavers were used for the new pathways, saving money and recycling perfectly good materials. The new design keeps the focus in the garden, lessening the impact of the building at the rear. |
